From Marrakech, discover during a day trip the city of Safi (Safim in Portuguese), located halfway between El Jadida and Essaouira on the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the hidden treasures of Vasco De Gama’s fortress (1488-1541) and its magnificent sea views.

You will start your visit with the unmissable Castle of the Sea (Ksar el Bahr, built in the 16th century) then you will climb on the walkway to admire breathtaking views of the port and the ocean. Then a short tour of the Medina is a must by taking Rue du Socco to the Porte de Bab Chaâba, from where you will discover pottery factories and shopping malls which are real Ali Baba’s caves. . You can also visit the Kasbah of Safi, which now houses the National Museum of Ceramics.

After a small gourmet break on the Place de l’Indépendance, at the gates of the ramparts, you will leave to admire the magnificent panorama offered by the cliff of Sidi Bouzid which dominates the whole city of Safi and its port, famous in Morocco for the fishing of sardines and in the world for the export of phosphate.
